I wonder why it is so hard to remain human in a workplace for so many managers.
One told me once, “I have a business to run, I don’t have time for warm-and-fuzzy. I have to strategize and make business decisions.”
I replied, “People decisions are most important decisions you will ever make. Unless you treat people right, your strategy and decisions will fail.”
As Richard Branson said, “Take care of your employees and they will take care of your customers.”
“To HIRE good people, you have to be nice during hiring. To keep them later, you have to be nice while they work for you. For them to be your company ambassadors for life, treat them nice when they resign. You know, let me make it simpler. Just be nice. It costs 0 to be nice.”
