It all begins with a conversation. It goes without saying that if ENGAGEMENT is the objective at work, then first and foremost, conversations at work need to ENGAGE all levels of management and staff. Why? The design and implementation of ENGAGEMENT PRACTICES AT WORK will have a greater likelihood of success when there is “buy in” or commitments from a broad range of people at your workplace.
And, you need A PLAN!! Increasing ENGAGEMENT levels at your workplace is not born out of a “one off” activity, social event, staff meeting or team building workshop. But, these can help and do have value. Trust me on this one.
The design and implementation of ENGAGEMENT PRACTICES AT WORK also requires a well thought out Plan that is flexible and dynamic enough to have the ability to adapt, change and improve over a long period of time. Remember, you’re not Planning a “one off” activity, social event, staff meeting or team building workshop; you’re designing and implementing a PROCESS to increase ENGAGEMENT levels that is both sustainable and successful over time.
And what is that Process? In brief, Assess! Define Engagement. What is Engagement and does this definition best fit your workplace needs? Ask, “Why Engagement?” Ask, “What is the ROI?” Generate Ideas & Options through Internal and External Sources. This includes checking in with other departments and organizations as to their ENGAGEMENT BEST PRACTICES. Make Decisions & Organize Actions. And Have Fun! ENGAGEMENT in the absence of fun is boring, uninspiring, and will quickly loose it’s momentum and good energy. After all, isn’t the goal “Happy & Engaged People at Work?”
