ARE YOU “IN THE KNOW?”
We do admit that many of the questions on this Quiz are somewhat random. That’s ok ’cause our goal here is to ensure that you have some fun… learning and growing! Never forget that “You Matter!”
Put your knowledge of Positive Workplace Mental Health…For Teams! to the test. We strongly encourage cheating! Go ahead and Google, talk to your co-workers, talk to yourself! Do whatever you need to do. It’s YOUR Quiz and no one will be grading you.
PART 1:
1 = Not knowledgeable
5 = Somewhat knowledgeable
10= Very knowledgeable
Q: Rate yourself as to how knowledgeable you are with the following wordage and definitions.
Mental Toughness: The ability to bring to life whatever skills and talents you have-on demand. That may come down to an ability to fight sleepiness, or to stay relaxed and calm or to not surrender your spirit when the odds are against you. – James Loehr. “Brain: The Complete Mind.” National Geographic, 2009.
Resilience: The ability of an individual to recover from stress, traumatic events, and adverse situations. It’s about building a foundation that will increase performance and help individuals deal with stress and/or traumatic events.
Psychological Health: A state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.
Psychological Safety: The absence of harm and/or threat of harm to mental well-being that a worker might experience.
Psychologically Healthy and Safe Workplace: A workplace that promotes workers’ psychological well-being and actively works to prevent harm to workers psychological health including in negligent, reckless, or intentional ways.
PART 2:
Q: What’s your honest and authentic thoughts on these particular statements from the world of work?
True? False? Other?
Leaders must establish a work climate which acknowledges that employees may become overwhelmed with the personal issues they struggle with.
The only way employees will be open to receiving help is if the environment in which they work endorses that getting help is OK.
It is important to emphasize that seeking help in times of distress displays courage, strength, responsibility, and good judgement.
If you are concerned about someone at work, talk to them about how they are doing.
Most people say that they made it through stressful and traumatic events because of their friends, family members and co-workers. Providing basic peer support is crucial to keeping each other healthy.
No one has time for self-serving people. If you’re sucking energy and resources out of someone but never pouring any back in, you’re taking up valuable space.
PART 3:
PPE Presents The 2019 World of Work Debate “FOR” or “AGAINST.” You will need 1 or 2 other people to play with and some sort of timer. Read each statement and make a decision “FOR” or make a decision “AGAINST.” Allow for only 2 minutes of Debate time TOTAL, for each statement. And make sure that you have a well thought out plan of attack “FOR” or “AGAINST.” Good luck to all of you!!
